Drawing in black and white may seem simple, but it’s surprisingly challenging because it requires a strong sense of tone and contrast.

I’m fascinated by the range of textures I can create using only an ink pen, pencil, and black gouache.

This practice also connects to the tradition of black-and-white illustration in publishing, which gives it a timeless quality.
