Although it may appear straightforward, it’s surprisingly demanding because it relies on a strong understanding of tone and contrast. I’m drawn to the remarkable range of textures that can be created using only an ink pen, pencil, and black gouache. This approach also links my work to the rich tradition of black-and-white illustration in publishing, giving it a sense of timelessness.
